Rim brakes are getting overlooked by people who want you to see the new shiny disc brake stuff. We still love rim brakes and believe they have their place, particularly if you want to build a super lightweight bike. That is why our Aero 40 wheel is loaded with new tech and features your choice of high-end DT Swiss hubs.

Our Aero rim is the latest iteration in our wheel range; it has taken our Fast and Light series and improved upon the design that our customers loved. We didn’t change much, we made it lighter, by around 100g per wheelset, and we improved the brake track.

Other brands may have stopped trying to improve their rim brake performance, but when we worked on our new Toray T700 and T800 carbon fiber mix, we paid attention to the brake track. We took the brake track of the FL series and increased its heat tolerance from 240° to 300°. So you get that and our beloved stiff, light, strong, and highly affordable wheelset.

We’ve even managed to sneak in your choice of DT Swiss hubs while keeping the wheels affordable. You can pick from either the 350S or the 240S. The 350S keeps the affordability high, and the 240S keeps the weight low. Both keep the quality high.

The quality doesn’t end there, though, and we’ve gone with one of the most fatigue resistant spokes in the world. We have gone for Sapim CX-Ray spokes. These aero spokes that are amongst the lightest in the world are the perfect spoke for our aero wheels.

Features

Wide Rim Tech

25mm rim wide creates a better, more stable support, while the shape of the tire and rim together creates regular, stable air flow, in short, more aerodynamics, less attrition. provides an ideal basis for 25/28mm tires, the sizes currently popular.

2-Way Clincher Tubeless. Tubes or No-Tubes

Use either traditional tires with tubes, or tubeless tires without tubes. Tubeless tires can provide lower rolling resistance and better protection from punctures.

Sapim CX-RAY As light as a titanium spoke

The CX-Ray still receives the best results in fatigue testing of any spoke. The CX-Ray aero spoke combines excellent aerodynamics with low weight and great strength. Not only are they more aerodynamic, they also make wheels lighter and stronger. Its unique strength and flexibility make the CX-Ray suitable for most bicycle disciplines. CX-Ray spokes are used by top bike racers and triathletes around the world.
